Time is the first pillar of stewardship

Today's article on stewardship marks the third in a series in which I have been reflecting on Stewardship: Our Way of Life. In the first reflection I brought out the fact that stewardship is not so much a program as it is a spirituality, a way of relating to God and to the world. In the second, I concentrated on gratitude as the overriding theme of this particular way of life. In this issue, I wish to treat the first of the three pillars of stewardship: time. A dear friend of mine, Father Gene Konkel, SS, tells the story of a fellow he knew in Menlo Park, Calif. This gentleman assisted in the parking lot of a local bank after having suffered a major stroke.
